I am interested in the passage of time within memory and the natural progression of light within a life. Through my traveling, I am influenced by the surrounding ever-changing atmosphere. My work describes the many moods and events that chronicle my progression. The paintings I paint are not landscapes but rather portraits of myself along with those around me on my journey.
My inspiration comes from the cultures I travel through and my rural childhood home. The dialogue between what is present and what is absent intrigues me. Memories and experiences are chronicled in a representation of what I believe to be the essence of my journeys mapped out. I collage under almost all of my paintings memorabilia acquired from the places I have experienced. I paint from my memory of the fleeting moments of travel combined with the many photographs I shoot along my venture.
